Star Ferry is one of the most significant and representative landmarks of Hong Kong. Its ferries commute between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island since 1888. Though the road tunnels that are built beneath the harbor has brought an alternative way to shuttle between these two islands, many commuters still prefer to take the ferry.

One of the main reasons may be the price. The fare for the upper deck is HK$2.20, while the lower deck, a mere cost of HK$1.70. This is a very affordable price, especially when traffic during rush hour encourages commuters to opt for ferries rather than land transports.

Tourists are able to capture panoramic views of both banks of the harbors and it is especially beautiful during dusk where you can see the sun setting down behind the skyscrapers. It is definitely a great bargain and you will get to do one of the best sightseeing activities in Hong Kong. The operating hours is between 7am to 11pm and the ferries’ intervals are only 10 minutes apart. You can also enjoy a leisurely afternoon with this breezy ride across the island.
