Internet Access in Hong Kong

Posted on | November 2, 2008 | 1 Comment

Internet access can be found in most hotels for a fee at their business centres. Hotels also provide wireless internet access ( WiFi ) in hotel rooms. Usually, internet access will be charged by hourly or daily rate.

You can access free internet at some coffee shops with a drink purchase, for instance from Starbucks or Pacific Coffee Company, free WiFi Access are also offered by some large shopping malls, major MTR stations and public libraries.

Personally, I think that accessing the internet in Hong Kong is not as convenient as yet. There is still much room for improvements. The only place I find it encouraging is the free WiFi internet access in the Hong Kong International Airport, HKIA.

Recently, the Hong Kong Government introduced free WiFi Hotspots near the government departments & public libraries. Good effort… but as a tourist, that doesn’t help us much at this point in time. This project will take about 5 years to complete. We do look forward to seeing Hong Kong with full WiFi Access coverage.

The WiFi Hotspots in Hong Kong can be located at this official website.
